Effective 9 October 2026.
In short
- We collect visit statistics with Google Analytics, and only if you allow it in the cookie notice. Without your permission Google Analytics does not load.
- There are no advertising trackers. Fonts, scripts and images are served from our own server.
- YouTube videos load only when you start them yourself.
- If you write to us through the form, we receive your message and, if you give them, your name and email. We use them only to reply.
Who is responsible
raycat.org is run by the Raycat team. For any question about your data, write to hello@raycat.org.
When you visit the site
The site is hosted on Cloudflare. To deliver pages and protect the site from attacks, Cloudflare processes technical request data: IP address, browser type, time and the address of the page. We do not use this data to identify or track visitors. How long Cloudflare keeps it is described in its privacy policy.
We remember your choice in the cookie notice in your browser’s local storage, so we do not ask on every page. That record never leaves your device.
Statistics: Google Analytics
If you press “Allow” in the cookie notice, the pages load Google Analytics 4 by Google. It sets the cookies _ga and _ga_… for up to two years and sends Google information about the visit: which pages you opened and for how long, where you came from, your device and browser type, and your approximate location (country and city). Google Analytics 4 does not store IP addresses.
We only look at aggregated statistics, to understand which topics people find interesting, and we never link them to messages from the form. We do not use this data for advertising. Google Analytics keeps it for no longer than 14 months.
If you press “Decline” or make no choice, Google Analytics does not load. You can change your mind at any time with the “Cookie settings” link at the bottom of every page; after you decline, the Google Analytics cookies are deleted.
The “Request an explainer” form
When you send the form, we receive your message, its topic and, if you give them, your name and email. The message reaches our mailbox through Cloudflare Email Routing. We use it to reply to you and to choose topics for new explainers. We keep the correspondence for no longer than 12 months after the last message and then delete it. Name and email are optional.
YouTube videos
Until you press play, the page does not contact YouTube and shows our own cover image. After you press play, the player loads from youtube-nocookie.com and Google receives data about the view under its privacy policy.
Banners
Any banners on the site are images and links served from our own server, without tracking. If we ever add an advertising network, we will update this policy and the cookie notice first.
Who we share data with
- Cloudflare, Inc. — hosting, protection of the site and email forwarding.
- Google — Google Analytics statistics (only with your consent) and YouTube videos (only if you start one). Our mailbox may also be hosted by Google.
These companies may process data in the United States; both take part in the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework. We share data with no one else, and we never sell it.
Legal basis (for visitors in the EU)
We process technical data on the basis of legitimate interest, to keep the site running and secure (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Google Analytics statistics are collected only with your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you can withdraw at any time. We process data from the form to answer your request (Art. 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR).
Your rights
You can ask what data we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, restrict its processing or object to it, and withdraw your consent to statistics. Write to hello@raycat.org and we will answer within a month. If you are in the EU, you can also complain to the data protection authority of your country.
Children
The site is meant for a general audience. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If a child sent us a message and you want it deleted, write to us.
Changes
If we change this policy, the new version will appear on this page with a new date.
